How does your practice website perform on mobile devices?

Hello there! Today I would love to share some info with you from a great event I attended recently with Google.

The event was all about practical steps you can take as a business owner to help your practice or service be found online by new clients, and how the use of mobile devices is shaping consumer behaviour, which is what we will explore today.

So, how are people using their mobile devices to search for health providers? The team at think with Google share an interesting fact: that, after recommendations from family and friends, online search is the preferred method for researching new health providers.

It is interesting to know what action consumers take when looking online for a health provider...

If you have a website for your practice, you want to make sure it works just as well on mobile devices as it does on desktop computers. One online tool that you can use is https://testmysite.thinkwithgoogle.com/ - you simply pop in your website URL to generate your unique report (you even have the choice to email yourself the results). This free Google tool will check:

  • How mobile friendly your site is (e.g. how it looks visually, how your website menu configures to a mobile device etc.). Did you know that people are 5 times more likely to leave a mobile website that is not mobile friendly?
  • How fast your mobile site is. You only have 3 seconds. Nearly half of all visitors will leave a mobile site that does not load in this time.
  • How fast your desktop website is. We are all time poor. Waiting for a slow website? ‘Aint nobody got time for that!

If your results are on the poor side, don't panic! This tool is a guide only, and you can perhaps consider contacting your website administrator or developer to discuss how you can improve the various elements of your site.

Have a great rest of your day, and if you would like to read the full Micro-Moments Guide on how Australians Find and Choose Health Services, click here.

PS. Check out the little Google goodie I received at the event!
