Part 2 - Setting up your business: working as a provider under the NDIS

Last time we looked at preparing yourself as a provider under the NDIS. It is recommended you start the registration process now (if you haven't already). Let's explore some of the areas you will need to consider:

Step 2: Registering as a provider with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

Registration can be completed on the NDIS website and allows you to access the provider portal and do business online. To register as a provider you will need to:

• Provide details on your scope of delivery/practice
• Provide details on where you will offer your services (which state and location)
• Have bank details prepared for receiving payments
• Have your resume ready
• Evidence of registration with AHPRA or relevant association (health practitioners)
• Proof of identity
• Evidence of your public liability insurance
• Your ABN

A little note about Quality Assurance & Safeguards:

Until the implementation of a national quality management framework for NDIA registered providers, you still need to be mindful of existing state & territory based systems that will continue to ensure participants have access to high quality services that achieve their goals, which are free from abuse, neglect and exploitation. This means that you may be required at the time of registration to demonstrate your capacity to comply with these existing standards.

We will keep updating you with the requirements for this as they evolve.
